Job Summary
The Sr. Project Engineer will be responsible for large concrete structures with office towers and mixed-use buildings.   Works directly with management team to create the best overall customer service possible. Responsibilities include working closely with company management, overseeing the on-site project team, subcontractors and subcontracts, and maintaining strong relationships with the Client and other project consultants and team members.
Summary of Essential Functions
  • Coordinates closely with Project Manager and Superintendent to effectively manage the project.
  • Responsible for generating Request for Information (RFI) and submittals and informing the TEAM.
  • Responsible for the project submittal process in accordance with the construction documents and assuring submittal approvals are received in advance of the date required to properly maintain the project schedule.
  • Offers technical information to Project Manager to insure work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepares and executes subcontracts and subcontractor change orders including time extensions. May prepare and execute owner change orders.
  • Manages project subcontractors including coordination, procurement of materials and equipment, monitoring budget and cost, manage purchase orders and billings and other leadership duties for the project.
  • Supervise staff, including: establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, and conducting on-the-job training of project engineers and interns.
  • Monitor quality control team members with the project punch lists and close out.
Summary of Essential Requirements
  1. Excellent communicator, highly detail oriented, self-motivated TEAM player.
  2. Degree in Construction Management or affiliated degree such as Architecture or Engineering with a minimum of 3 years as a Project Engineer .
  3. Ability to fluently read and interpret construction design documents including but not limited to Architectural, Structural and Civil plans and project specifications.
  4. Possess knowledge base in all divisions of commercial and mixed-use building project components including civil/site-work, foundation and structural systems, interior finishes, exterior wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems.
  5. Solid experience with managing the submittal process and requests for information.
  6. Maintains very strong organizational skills and proven positive and professional attitude with excellent customer service skills.
  7. Resourceful and diligent in seeking win-win solutions to daily challenges encountered on the job.
  8. Strong computer skills including the ability to use estimating software, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, spread sheets, online plan rooms and company communication tools, such as email, internet, as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and computer based scheduling software. Experience with Viewpoint is highly beneficial.
